Recognition of subjects

Recognition of objects

Courses taken in previous studies can be recognised on the basis of an application submitted via IS and supported by all required documents. A student may only apply for recognition of courses which he/she has not successfully completed in his/her current studies or which are not registered in the timetable at the same time.

The student must submit the request for course recognition electronically no later than the end of the first instructional week of the semester in which he/she plans to count the credits.

A student may request credit:

a) compulsory and compulsory elective courses taken during previous studies at the VŠPJ,

b) compulsory and compulsory elective courses taken during previous studies, usually at another university,

c) compulsory and compulsory elective study subjects which do not form part of the profiling basis of the study programme, taken during previous studies in an accredited educational programme at a higher vocational school or within the framework of lifelong learning (the subjects which form part of the profiling basis of the study programme are determined by the study programme guarantor),

d) study subject professional practice from previous studies at the VŠPJ,

e) previous work experience,

f) a course of study in teaching a foreign language.

Attachments to the application for recognition of study courses taken during previous studies at the VŠPJ are the syllabus of the study course and a transcript of the learning outcomes from previous studies at the VŠPJ. These attachments are automatically attached to the application by the IS based on the designation of the relevant course taken. The annexes to the application for recognition of courses taken during previous studies outside the VŠPJ according to Section 6(4)(b) are the transcript of learning outcomes (original or certified copy) and the syllabus, which the student attaches electronically to the application in the IS. If the student has only a paper copy of the transcript of learning outcomes, he/she shall submit a scan of the transcript to the IS and deliver the original to the Study Department of the VŠPJ within 5 days of submitting the application. The course of study must be clearly marked on the transcript of results.

Conditions for recognition of study courses:

a) the courses of study have been successfully completed no later than five years prior to the date of application,

b) the courses of study have more than 75 % content conformity with the course of study taught at the VŠPJ,

c) if the courses of study have been completed by examination, then grades 1 and 2 (grading scale 1 to 4, where 4 is unsatisfied) or grades "A, B, C" (in the case of grading scale A to F, where F is unsatisfied) will be accepted.

Foreign language skills

Attachments to the application for recognition of a foreign language in the framework of study in an accredited educational programme at a university, higher vocational school or within the framework of lifelong learning are the justification of the application METHODICAL GUIDE TO THE ORGANIZATION OF TEACHING IN ACCREDITED STUDY PROGRAMMES AT THE VŠPJ Code. The conditions of recognition are governed by section 2, paragraph 5. 11) The application is decided by the degree programme supervisor, who may request the opinion of the course supervisor for his/her decision. 12) In the event that the request for recognition is granted, the student will be awarded the appropriate number of credits and a grade of 'Recognised', following the entry into force of the issued Recognition Decision, which will be uploaded to the IS Personal File. 13) In the event that the request for recognition is not granted, the Decision on the matter will be delivered to the student by post in their own handwriting to their correspondence address. Once the decision issued has become final, the student will be able to register the course in his/her timetable. 14) Information on the status of all requests for recognition made by the student during his/her studies at the VŠPJ is available in the history of requests for recognition.

Conditions for recognition of professional practice (courses Practice I, II, III, IV, V):

In accordance with Decree No. 39/2005 Coll., § 3, paragraph 7, the length of practical training in the combined form of study may be reduced by the period of documented practical training completed while studying in programmes for the preparation of the relevant or similar health profession, or by the period of practice of the relevant or similar health profession.

In the event that a student cannot be recognized for professional practice according to the above provision, he/she shall complete professional practice in full identical with the full-time form of study.

Since the study prepares for the exercise of two professions simultaneously - the profession of health and social worker (it is a health profession according to Act 96/2004 Coll.) and the profession of social worker (Act 108/2006 Coll.), we are obliged to follow the legal regulations of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. When recognizing professional practice, we are obliged to follow the provisions of Decree No. 39/2005 Coll. §3, paragraph 7 as amended (Decree 129/2010 Coll. and Decree 3/2016 Coll.), which stipulates, inter alia, "... the length of practical training in the combined form of study may be reduced by the time of documented practical training completed while studying in programmes for the preparation of the relevant or similar health profession, or by the time of practice of the relevant or similar health profession...). It follows from the above provision that it is not possible to recognise (shorten) professional experience on the basis of studies at a higher vocational school or university which does not have a health care focus or on the basis of employment in homes for the elderly or other social services and it is necessary (despite work or study experience in social services) to complete the professional experience in full as part of the studies.

If the student meets the above conditions, the application for recognition must be accompanied by relevant documents to demonstrate that the letter of the law is met:

- in the case of a non-medical health professional: a certificate of employment stating the position, the amount of time, the length of employment and a brief description of the work

- when studying at another university or college: a transcript of academic results, course syllabus
