Professional practice of students

Objective of practice

The basic aim is continuity and connection with theoretical teaching so that students in the course of professional practice have the opportunity to deepen and consolidate knowledge from theoretical teaching and could gain personal experience, which will subsequently be a source for their active participation in further theoretical teaching. Practice is one of the profile subjects in the field of Health and Social Worker. It enables the acquisition of comprehensive competences and practical skills for the performance of the profession of health and social worker.

Scope of practice

Total hours of instruction are 1000 hours, which are evenly divided into 5 semesters within the courses of Practice I, Practice II, Practice III, Practice IV and Practice V.

Practice issues are regulated by the Guideline for Professional Practice in the field of Health and Social Worker, which is stored in the downloadable files of the IS of the VŠPJ. Information about the internship

The internship takes place in residential health care facilities, social services facilities or other facilities that are active in the field of social work, providing social services. The obligation arising from the study plan is, out of the total allocation intended for the practice, to complete at least two semester-long practices, i.e. 8 weeks (400 teaching hours), in relevant health care facilities (e.g. ODNs in within hospitals, LDNs, psychiatric hospitals, hospices, children's centres - nursing homes, ..).

A list of workplaces suitable for students' internships has been created to ensure professional practice. Students secure their internships individually. For the contractual provision of professional practice, a tripartite contract is used with definition of the conditions of cooperation of all parties involved (student, school, facility), which defines the obligations of the school, the student and the obligations of the workplace in relation to confidential data and confidentiality, occupational safety and fire protection.

In accordance with Decree No. 39/2005 Coll., Section 3, Paragraph 7, the length of practical training in the combined form of study may be reduced by the time of documented practical training completed while studying in programmes for the preparation of the relevant or similar health profession, or by the time of practice of the relevant or similar health profession.
