Programme Characteristics

Since the academic year 2022/2023, students have been admitted to the Clinical Social Care programme.

The standard duration of study is three years. The degree programme director is Mgr. Jana Gabrielová, PhD.

The programme prepares graduates for the performance of a non-medical healthcare profession without professional supervision, as defined by Act No. 96/2004 Coll. on Non-Medical Healthcare Professions, Decree No. 55/2011 Coll. on the Activities of Healthcare Professionals and Other Specialised Professionals, and the Minimum Education Standard in Social Work of the Association of Educators in Social Work.

Based on Decree No. 480/2025 Coll., which amends Decree No. 414/2024 Coll. on the equivalence of education for officials of territorial self-governing units, effective from January 1, 2026, graduates of our study program Clinical Social Care are not required to demonstrate special professional competence for:

  • administrative activities in the performance of public guardianship,
  • administrative activities in social work and social services,
  • administrative activities in the field of social and legal protection of children.

This means that an official performing the above-mentioned administrative activities is not required to demonstrate special professional competence if they have obtained a university degree in the Clinical Social Care study program at the College of Polytechnics Jihlava. Therefore, our graduates do not need to take the special professional competence examination for the above-mentioned positions.

Further Information on the Programme

A key criterion is not only the graduates' theoretical expertise but, above all, their practical readiness for employment. Therefore, the study programme focuses on integrating theoretical and practical teaching across individual subjects. This objective is also reflected in the selection of teachers and the structure of the curriculum, with an emphasis on maximizing practical aspects.

Graduates can apply their competencies in positions as social workers and clinical social workers, primarily in the healthcare and social services sectors. They may find employment in government and municipal organizations, non-governmental non-profit and church organizations, such as home care agencies, children's centres (infant care institutions), day and weekly care centres, long-term care facilities, hospitals, social affairs departments, residential facilities for seniors and people with disabilities (homes, sheltered housing), psychiatric hospitals, social care institutions, employment offices, educational institutions in the field of clinical social care, and hospice care facilities.
