Characteristics of SP

Starting in the academic year 2022/2023, students are admitted to the Health and Social Care program. At the same time, the implementation of the Health Social Worker degree programme will run until 2024. This is an almost identical study, which differs mainly in its name. The name change is based on an amendment to the legislation. There are also minor changes in the content, scope and method of completion of some subjects, but the profile of the graduate, the acquired knowledge, skills and competences remain the same.

The standard period of study is 3 years. The guarantor of the study programme is doc. PhDr. David Urban, Ph.D. The study prepares graduates for the performance of non-medical health care profession without professional supervision as defined by Act No. 96/2004 Coll. on non-medical health care professions, Decree No. 55/2011 Coll. on the activities of health care workers and other professional staff and the ASVSP Minimum Standard of Education in Social Work.

Graduate Profile

The graduate of the study programme, in accordance with Act No. 96/2004 Coll., Decree No. 39/2005 Coll. and Decree No. 55/2011 Coll, as amended, the graduate will acquire professional competence to perform the profession of health and social worker and also social worker according to Act No. 108/2006 Coll.
The graduate will perform professional activities in the field of social work in health care, in social service facilities and in other institutions and organizations operating in the field of social work. He/she will work as a health worker with professional competences in the field of health and social care or as a social worker with professional competences in the field of social services. When exercising the profession of health and social worker, the graduate will be competent to perform the activities listed in Decree No 55/2011, § 9 without professional supervision and indication.

Further information on the programme

The key criterion is not only the professional theoretical, but especially the practical readiness of graduates for employment in practice. Therefore, the study programme focuses on the connection/relationship between theoretical and practical teaching of individual subjects. The selection of teachers and the structure of teaching are also adapted to this goal, with maximum use of practical aspects.

Graduates can apply their competences in the positions of social workers and health and social workers, especially in the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, in state and local government organizations, in non-state non-profit and church organizations, e.g.
