Courses are divided into compulsory, obligatory and elective courses. They may be completed by credit, examination or credit and examination. The following teaching methods are used in the teaching of the courses: lectures, seminars and tutorials. Specific teaching methods are professional practice and excursions. An overview of the curriculum can be found here.
In drawing up the curriculum and determining the study load, the VŠPJ is based on the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) and sets the average standard student workload at 1 560 hours per academic year, which corresponds to 60 credits. The standard duration of a Master's degree corresponds to two academic years, when a student must earn at least 120 credits. Teaching takes place in 4 semesters, each semester consisting of 14 weeks of teaching and 5 weeks of examination periods. The curriculum includes 240 hours of professional practice. Concurrently with the Professional Practice 1 and Professional Practice 2 courses, students also take the Supervision for Professional Practice 1 and Supervision for Professional Practice 2 courses through a co-requisite.
For successful completion of the degree, all compulsory courses must be completed. A list of these can be downloaded here.
The compulsory electives include Art Therapy and its use in mental health care and Psycho-occupational Rehabilitation in Mental Health Care. At least one of these courses must be taken to meet the degree requirements.
The elective course offerings are updated each semester here.
