Coping Strategies for Difficult Life Situations in Selected Target Groups of Social Work.

The aim of the present project is to find out what coping strategies for difficult life situations were used by selected social work target groups (seniors, persons with mental illness) to maintain social functioning. Difficult life situations are a normal part of everyone's life. To cope with them, a combination of different strategies are used, consciously or unconsciously, depending on the type of challenging life situation, the personality of the individual and the environment in which the individual is located. Coping with challenging life situations is one of the fundamental topics in social and health-social work. Yet this is an area in which existing knowledge is not developed in a way that can be effectively applied in practice. The analysis of the strategies used so far is important for the further work of social and health-social workers with these target groups and for the groups themselves.
