Department characteristics

Department of Social Work was established on January 1, 2013 to provide teaching in the accredited Health and Social Care program, which in three-year bachelor's degree in PRESENT AND COMBINED form of study prepares graduates to perform two professions:

Non-medical health profession without professional supervision as defined by the Act on Non-Medical Health Professions No.96/2004 Coll. as amended and Decree No. 55/2011 Coll. on the activities of health professionals and other professional workers

Calling a social worker according to Act No. 108/2006 Coll. and related regulations.

Since 2023, the KSP has been teaching the updated Master's degree programme Social Work in Mental Health Care. The study is implemented in a combined form and the standard duration of study is 2 years.

The aim of this professionally oriented programme is to achieve in graduates a comprehensive readiness for the profession of social worker in the field of mental health care with an emphasis on self-experience and self-reflection.

Association of Social Work Educators

KSP is a full member of the Association of Social Work Educators, which brings together colleges and universities educating in social work. The Association of Social Work Educators publishes the journal Social Work. The journal is published 6 times a year in print and electronic versions and is included in the following databases:
